    Her drive, determination and inspiration have paved her way to success. She’s passionate about sharing the hard-earned knowledge, expertise and insights that she’s picked up along the way, and keeping the door of opportunity wide open for others keen to turn their dreams into a reality.

As people look for less traditional routes to finance, crowdfunding campaigns are becoming more and more popular. During this masterclass, we will hear from a start-up business, Bottle Farm, who, earlier this year, used a crowdfunding platform to successfully raise £32,000 for their innovative indoor farm and garden kits.

They will be interviewed by our Start-ups in London Libraries SME Champion for Southwark, Dean Williams, who will discuss with them what they did to achieve this success, their top tips for any other start-up business thinking of obtaining funds this way, and what they would have done differently.

Dean will also share this 5 top tips to ensure you have the best chance of raising funds, especially in this current climate.

BIPC Glasgow: Making a difference – starting and running a business with environmental impact


Meet the local businesswomen making an impact in the environmental space at this event hosted by BIPC Glasgow, during COP26. Join us to hear their inspirational stories - their motivations, challenges and aspirations.

Juliana is a fashion expert with over 20 years’ professional experience within the industry. Five years ago, she resigned from a Senior Director position within a Mayfair fashion company to set up her own personal styling consultancy. Today she has clients all over the world including Italy, Israel, France the UK and America and is passionate about working with her clients to reach their true style potential. She also provides a creative consultancy service that helps start-ups and established business owners to build supportive relationships to help their businesses thrive.

Getting started with your sales strategy

Your idea becomes a business once you have those first customers and cash flow. It sounds simple, but in reality there are many complexities to defining how you will draw in customers, retain their loyalty and continue producing profit. In this session you can get to grips with the essential early decisions needed to set out how much it will cost to deliver your products and services, how to determine what price to charge and how to keep people coming back for more. And importantly, we will discuss how you can do all of this with heart and the social impact front and centre.

You will hear from the 2020 winner of The Small Awards’ Bricks and Clicks category, MODO Creative who have experimented and evolved an impressive multi-channel sales strategy.

MODO Creative also focus on the idea that a money-making business can also be community-forging and impactful. They will discuss how you might consider independent makers, designers and services to pass on sales further down the supply chain and keep them retained within the small business community.

Karen Campbell from The Small Awards will be on hand to outline some tips and best practice as well as moderating the interview.
